As the world begins to understand the full impact of the January 12th earthquake in Haiti, the need to help in the relief efforts is clear. The International Red Cross estimates that more than three million residents of Haiti have been affected by the earthquake, with estimates of the death toll in the tens of thousands. TIAC wishes to express its profound sympathies to the people of Haiti, and encourages our members and partners in the Canadian tourism sector to support the ongoing relief efforts.
The following are a few of the agencies that are accepting donations at this time:
The Canadian Red Cross is accepting donations to support International Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti. Canadians who wish to give may donate online at www.redcross.ca; by phone at 1-800-418-1111; or by visiting any Red Cross office.
