What are you planning for Tourism Week in Canada?

In Guelph, Ontario...

Guelph Tourism Services have planned several activities:

  • The Great Tourism Race (June 4-10) will help educate front line hospitality and attraction staff first hand of what there is to do in Guelph and Wellington. Teams of two will race against each other to complete a list of tasks, taking pictures of themselves completing these tasks with a particular object in each picture. The first team to record themsleves completing all tasks and return to the Guelph Tourism Information Centre will win a fabulous Guelph STAY-CATION.
  • Then, on June 4, Guelph Tourism will hold an Open House at the Tourism Information Centre at city hall. This open house will help raise awareness of the services of Guelph Tourism, and promote new branded merchandise, and inform members of future tourism initiatives. Refreshments will be served.
  • Lastly, on June 10th, they will launch Hospitality Thursdays. Having partnered with the Ontario Restaurant Hotel and Motel Association, 20 hotels, restaurants and shops have already signed on with special admission rates, room rates and special offers on tourism products on Thursdays in July and August.

In Hamilton, Ontario...

  • On June 4, Tourism Hamilton is participating in a promotional day that the Ontario Tourism Partnership Corporation has planned in Toronto at Yonge/Dundas Square. A team of tourism partners will be supporting the summer leisure campaign at the Tourism Hamilton booth. 
  • On June 5, Tourism Hamilton will run an ad in The Spectator recognizing the new Board and the Executive Committee.
  • Throughout Tourism Week, Tourism Hamilton staff will be making visits to key tourism partners to thank them for their on-going support and discuss ways that Tourism Hamilton can support their marketing efforts further.
  • They will also be rolling out their summer leisure campaign, including the launch of the television commercials and the introduction of a new interactive map on the home page of tourismhamilton.com.
  • Lastly, Tourism Hamilton intends to do some outreach to the local media highlighting the summer campaign and the economic impact that tourism has in Hamilton.

The City of Kawartha Lakes is hosting its 6th annual “Toast to Tourism” on Thursday June 10th, 5pm-9pm at the picturesque Royal Resort on Balsam Lake near Rosedale.Tourism partners will enjoy a fun filled evening of networking, culinary treats, wine, entertainment and scenic boat rides. Toast to Tourism is a special tourism event held annually to officially launch the summer season in Kawartha Lakes, which brings in over 1.3 million visitors a year and $67 million in spending. Clarington Marketing Minds (a marketing co-op of businesses in the muncipality of Clarington) is kicking off Tourism Week in Canada with "The Art of Country Living Family Adventure Tour" on June 5th and June 6th. This Adventure tour will showcase approximately 20 - 30 businesses in Clarington, with each business having activities for families.
